Project: Rebirth

Project: Rebirth is AYEN’s pilot program. Its focus is to redevelop the interactions between humans and their environments to create a reimagined human landscape. Ultimately the goal is to build communities that successfully address local and global environmental issues through sustainable lifestyles and nature-based solutions while providing prosperous livelihoods to the people who live there.

Implementation of Project: Rebirth will occur in phases. The first phase is the development of demonstration sites that showcase reimagined human landscapes. These landscapes will incorporate green energy, regenerative agriculture, sustainable construction, and responsible waste management among other principles. The development of these demonstration sites will require the help and expertise of partner organizations and the cooperation of local communities. AYEN members will be involved in the development phase as a way of gaining experience, developing their skills, and showcasing their abilities.

The second phase of Project: Rebirth is using the experiences of the demonstration site to teach local communities how to implement its mechanisms in their own lives. This phase is concerned with replicating the successes of reimagining human landscapes to the communities that need them most. Those involved with the development and maintenance of demonstration sites, especially AYEN members, will be critically important in transferring knowledge to these communities.

As AYEN’s flagship initiative, Project: Rebirth aims to embody all aspects of the AYEN philosophy.

Project: Rebirth will inspire by taking existing socio-ecological issues and solutions, and then reframing them to produce creative, novel, and sustainable outcomes that show people a different way of life that is both possible and beneficial. This process will be shared on social media to help galvanize support around reimagined human landscapes in general, and AYEN in specific.

Project: Rebirth will educate by providing youth environmentalists and local communities with practical knowledge on creating reimagined human landscapes that focus on nature-base solutions and sustainable lifestyles.

Project: Rebirth will restore by ensuring that its practices are environmentally beneficial, and always leave the ecosystems it affects better than it found them.
